Before: Wiley WOAD Gold Open Access Workflow

For articles submitted to any of the Wiley Gold Open Access journals, confirmation of payment is required prior to publication (and in some specific journals, prior to acceptance) to ensure the article can seamlessly pass from editorial to production, and to publication.

If you approved a Request that is in Under Review publication status, the APC for this article would be set aside until the article is accepted. If the article is withdrawn or rejected after the funding request has been approved, the APC flows back into your available balance and the article would be marked as cancelled.

After: Wiley & Oable Gold Open Access Workflow

The Under Review publication status for Wiley funding requests implies that the article is not yet accepted, and in Oable you can recognise these as Submissions without a Date of Acceptance available. You will be able to approve such a Submission just like in WOAD today, and it will not be deducted from your available balance until it is accepted.

In Oable, you can see these Under Review Submissions as Planned Transactions in the workflow, and these Planned Transactions are planned to be paid against the associated Deposit Account for Gold Open Access. See below:

In case an approved Request is rejected or withdrawn, then the Request will. move to the Cancelled stage in the Request workflow and the APC earmarked under Planned Transactions will be flowing back into the main balance.
